The Department of Mechanical Engineering at NIT Andhra Pradesh, offers a B.Tech. Undergraduate programme in Mechanical Engineering, Two M. Tech programmes Manufacturing Engineering and Thermal Engineering and Mechanical Engineering also, M.S. (by research) and Ph.D. programmes (Full time and Part-time). The department was incepted in the year 2015 with a sanctioned intake of 60 students currently the enhanced intake is 120 students for the B.Tech. (ME) programme. The B.Tech. curriculum offered by the department includes of core courses that provide a comprehensive theoretical foundation which is supplemented through industry relevant elective courses and a project component. The department offers two M.Tech. programmes in programmes Manufacturing Engineering and Thermal Engineering with an intake of 15 students, from the Academic Year 2020-21 onwards. The M.Tech. curriculum is designed in such way to provide a theoretical and practical foundation for conducting high-quality research. Regular faculty in the department are experienced and possess degree from Institutes of national importance. Faculty members in the department work on research domains such as Design, Manufacturing, Therman and Materials Sciences to name a few.
